Speedweek moved back to Lincoln on Thursday, where Dewease battled Greg Hodnett and Brian Montieth for the win he picked up. On Friday at Williams Grove, Daryn Pittman won his second Mitch Smith Memorial in a row with Hodnett finishing second, biting into Krimes' shrinking point lead.
The 20th annual Pennsylvania Speedweek series for sprint cars that started last Saturday at Lincoln Speedway wrapped up Sunday night at Selinsgrove Speedway.
Going into the Selinsgrove finale, the 2010 series had yet to produce a repeat winner and if this year's version ended that way, it will be the first time in series history that such a feat was accomplished.
Details of the Selinsgrove finale are elsewhere in this Daily Item.
Mark Smith kicked off the series with the win at Lincoln last Saturday, before Western Pennsylvania flyer Ed Lynch Jr. of Apollo invaded at Bedford Speedway for the victory on Sunday. Tyler Walker made a last lap pass of Lance Dewease won at Grandview onTuesday, then injured himself during post-race antics, sidelining him for the rest of the week. Wednesday at Hagerstown, Denver's Alan Krimes wired the field for the victory and cemented himself as the series point leader to that point.

Disaster struck Krimes and his silver racer Saturday at Port Royal, when a broken U-joint forced him to miss time trials. And with points awarded in the series for finishes in every aspect of each race, not taking time cost Krimes the series point lead to Hodnett, who went on to open up a bigger advantage in points with the feature victory later in the night.
Much to Hodnett's credit, it was his team that loaned Krimes a U-joint so that he could resume competition in the heats and feature, but the damage was already done to Krimes' title hopes, and the night ended with Hodnett on top with 998 points to Pittman's 922 and Krimes' 887.
Likely the 2010 speedweek titlist, when all is said and done, the crown will be Hodnett's third, with others coming in 2002 and 2009. Neither Pittman or Krimes own a speedweek championship.
Car counts through Port Royal averaged 30 each night, with respective counts tallied as 35, 23, 32, 30, 31, 30 and 30.
