An excerpt:
Daryn Pittman will be a member of the Posse this weekend as he returns to the Mike Heffner owned machine. Pittman leads the area in the win column this season with seven and could be a threat to take home a win or two.
The score currently stands at Pennsylvania Posse 6, the World of Outlaws 0.
It dates back two years to this weekend when the last card-carrying member of the World of Outlaws won a feature at Williams Grove Speedway.
And ever since, it’s been all Posse and the Posse hope to keep that winning streak alive this weekend as the Outlaws come to town for the Summer Nationals on Friday and Saturday night.
Four-time WoO champion Donny Schatz is the last driver to set back the Posse on its home turf when he won the Summer Nationals in 2008.
Since that time, Greg Hodnett has won three times while Cody Darrah, Chad Layton and Fred Rahmer have all won an Outlaw event at the Monroe Township oval.
Who will step up to the plate this weekend to keep the Posse streak alive?
Current Lawrence Chevrolet 410 Sprint points leader Greg Hodnett has 21 top 10 finishes in his last 22 feature starts and has been fast at the Grove over recent weeks. Hodnett would like to add a couple of Outlaw wins to his win total this weekend as would his car owners Jim and Sandy Kline.
Daryn Pittman will be a member of the Posse this weekend as he returns to the Mike Heffner owned machine. Pittman leads the area in the win column this season with seven and could be a threat to take home a win or two.
Brian Montieth will be looking for a little rain before the events this weekend to give him a track he likes. Last weekend, Montieth was a rocket, coming from 17th to win his first of the season and could be a threat as well.
Lance Dewease leads all drivers at the Grove with three wins and he has been fast over the past few weeks.
Of course, Layton and Rahmer are both looking to repeat and the likes of Danny Dietrich, who is having a great year along with Brian Leppo, who tends to run well against the Outlaws could also be up for the challenge.
Joey Saldana leads the Outlaws back into the Keystone state as the leading winner with nine wins as of Monday night. Saldana, who drives for Kasey Kahne, holds a slim points lead over Steve Kinser, who is having his best season in several years driving for car owner Tony Stewart.
Jason Meyers has slipped out of the point battle just a little but remains third in points with even wins while Schatz is looking to turn his season around at a track that he has excelled at over the years. It hasn’t been Schatz’s best season as he is a distant fourth in points.
Jason Sides, Paul McMahan, Kraig Kinser, Jac Haudenschild, Sammy Swindell, Craig Dollansky, Danny Lasoski and Lucas Wolfe, who has run very well as of late and will be looking for that first Outlaw win head into town as well.
Time trials set the stage both nights with $20,000 going to the winner of the Summer Nationals on Saturday night. Fireworks are also on the schedule both nights.
PIT STOPS Out on the WoO tour last week, Dale Blaney won Wednesday night’s Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park over Steve Kinser, Sides, Kraig Kinser and McMahan. Friday night at Eldora, it was Saldana scoring the win over Schatz, McMahan, S. Kinser and Wolfe. Steve Kinser won the Kings Royal and the $50,000 payday on Saturday night over Kerry Madsen, Lasoski, Schatz and Greg Wilson. Tyler Walker was 13th and Stevie Smith 20th…
Tim Shaffer won Sunday night’s All Star Sprint main at Tri City Speedway over Blaney, Wilson, Stevie Smith and Lance Dewease with Walker sixth and Pittman seventh… Don’t forget that Lincoln Speedway will be in action Sunday night. They will be taking Saturday night off for the Summer Nationals but will run the 410 Sprints, thundercars and Speedsters on Sunday at 7:30pm…
The Super Sportsman have double features Saturday night at Port Royal Speedway. News from the Port is that they have dropped the 358 late models from its Dream Race Extreme/Jim Nace Memorial on August 7th. Good call by speedway officials…
Pat Cannon escaped injury as his Highlands Tire Service sprinter went up in flames Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway after a hard crash in the 358 sprint feature. The car was charred but Cannon was able to get out and his safety equipment did it’s job…
